I know the pieces fit 'cause I watched them fall away and I've done the math enuf to know the danger's of a second guessing.

Recycle Bin ...

"Please take the newspapers with you while alighting the train", proclaimed the announcer on the Red Line, today. By saying that I think he really wants you to take your newspaper with you and throw it out when you leave the train. Not once but he said that again and again at Davis square ... and Porter Square ... and Harvard Square ... and Kendall MIT .... and Charles. When we reached Park Street, he had enuf ... and goes ..."Please I beg you, for the Love Of God, Take Your Newspapers With You And Throw Them Out "

Although I have heard this many a times, was paying attention to his cries for say the 1st time (maybe the 2nd or third, dont recollect). Now I do-not read the newspaper on my way, but have seen it spread on the floor of the train, on the seats, as if commuters couldnt find time to throw it in the Recycle Bin !!

While in Chicago used to see pieces of Skittles wrappers , polythene bags, cigarette wraps, Tobacco lying all over the train. And the strange thing is that the announcer isn't complaining about the empty beer bottles that are rolling around on the floor for the entire train journey- up the length of car... and down the length of the car. It rolls this way first and then that way over and over again!

All it takes for the commuters is to carry the Metro ( newspaper) with them and drop it in the trash/recycle bin on the platform. Its an issue which I believe has existed ever since the T (train service in Boston) has started service. The next time you are on a train and leave bits and pieces of chocolate wrappers, bottles, Newspapers .. think of the cleaning crew. How much time they spend to clean that s*** and waste their time picking up newspapers from each Car. Its your money, the taxpayers money that's being wasted out here. So do your part and take the Newspaper you are reading or the tissue you use or the remains of the stuff you eat on the train - With You .
